Keep the Brilliance
A little attention helps keep diamond jewelry looking its best. Care for the whole piece—the diamond, its setting and the metal around it.
Keep cleaning gentle
For suitable diamond jewelry, use warm water with a little mild dish soap, then rinse carefully and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Follow any care instructions for the particular setting, metal or treatments; ask a jeweler if you are unsure.
Skip harsh shortcuts
Avoid abrasive powders, toothpaste and harsh chemicals. Leave steam and ultrasonic cleaning to a jewelry professional: these methods can loosen stones, and the setting should be inspected first.
Store with a little space
Keep pieces separated in soft pouches or individual compartments so diamonds do not scratch one another or the metal. Take jewelry off before swimming, cleaning or activities that could expose it to hard knocks.
Notice the setting
Diamond resists scratching, but a hard impact can still chip or break it. If a stone moves or a prong catches, stop wearing the piece and have a qualified jeweler inspect it before cleaning or wearing it again.
Gentle cleaning, separate storage and attention to the setting make a thoughtful everyday routine.
